Salomon had committed to marketing a product for the new sport of adventure racing. They needed a carrying system that allowed athletes to carry several days of supplies through challenging terrain.

Using the lightest materials available in conjunction with new ultralight construction methods, the resulting packs were light, comfortable, and very functional.

The pack line defined the new market of lightweight adventure performance with shoes, trekking poles and apparel. The packs immediately became the benchmark for the best adventure racers.
